PRISMA is a technology mission aiming at demonstrating satellite formation flying. The guidance and navigation algorithms are based on information provided by a RF sensor. At first, the validation of the algorithms and the interfaces (for avionic integration) is not carried out with the real device but with a PC simulator using Xenomai.

During this presentation, we will first explain why Xenomai has been chosen for this realization. Next, we will decribe Xenomai basic principles, our system’s time constraints, its dynamic architecture as well as its justification.

We will also discuss another achievement: an embedded GPS simulator, used for the validation of a satellite flight software.

We will conclude with an evaluation of these uses.
