History of the subject handicap and accessibility to RMLL

Article translations :

Though the subject was dealt with since 2000, it became of importance only from 2004.

This year we want to renew it, to involve users in order to match ressources against the needs, and to define new perspectives.

And for this, we need you ! :-)


2000, Bordeaux

"Free" softwares for blind and partially sighted people

Rebirth of the handicap subject.

"In Bordeaux, an accessibility subject organized by Phil’s Free (email : philsfree) had gathered numerous stakeholders of this domain (a11y.org, freebsoft, brltty, ...), and had resulted in working on technical topics, which had been followed by a thorough meeting in January 2005 at Honolulu university." The 2006 session of RMLL, in Vandœuvre­-lès-­Nancy (http://www.vandoeuvre.fr) very advanced in the domain of accessibility, was the opportunity to put forward this topic (http://2006.rmll.info/theme_29).

    Accessibility to WEB : building an Internet for solidarity in Europe.
    Pierre Guillou leads the department Accessibilité Numérique de l’association BrailleNet and also all activities from AccessiWeb (label, formation, information, ...) since february 2003 and he is the Project Manager of Support-EAM since octobre 2004.
