Haiku is a Free Software (MIT licence) Operating System designed from the ground up for multimedia desktop computing. Inspired by the BeOS, Haiku aims to provide users of all levels with a personal computing experience that is simple yet powerful, and free of any unnecessary complexities.

The Haiku project and its history will be introduced, a short demo of the current version will follow, then some technical aspects will be discussed, like the clean modular driver architecture, the typed- metadata indexed file system, and other features Linux didn’t copy from BeOS yet
